Synthesis of Graphene Quantum Dots Coupled to Au Nanoparticles: A Facile and Versatile Route Using Different Carbon Sources

A top-down synthesis of graphene quantum dots (GQD) was carried out by hydrothermal method from different carbon sources (graphene, multi-walled nanotubes, and black carbon) H2O2 as an oxidizing agent, with N source added in the reaction to modify chemical surface GQD, giving rise nanomaterial N-GQD. The modified N-GQD partially allowed nucleation coupling gold nanoparticles a HAuCl4 solution. X-ray diffraction spectrogram confirms amorphization precursor materials, while functionalized characterized through UV-Vis, Fourier transform infrared, photoluminescense spectrometry; TEM FE-SEM show particle sizes between 8 15 nm. N-GQD@AuNP presence can be confirmed UV-Vis spectroscopy analysis, showing partial nanoparticle Au structure 20 40

This method offers size tunability and narrow size distribution without any unpractical size separation process.
